COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Creative Writing Workshop is for emerging creative writers looking to learn and practice the craft of writing in a group setting with the support of a writing mentor. Each week, the mentor will offer fundamentals of writing and exercises to explore various writing topics. Participants will explore basic concepts like character, plot, setting, style, genre as well as how to give productive feedback to other writers. Other topics specifically focusing on forms of writing, like poetry, plays or dialogue, will also be considered. The flow of the course is fluid as the writing mentor shares his own practice while also integrating the interests of the participants. By the end of the course, writers will have techniques to explore their craft, strategies to develop their own stories and collaborators with whom they may continue to share work!
